When writing a teaching resume, think about including a Prof

I like to break down whatever skill I'm teaching in the simplest form at first. This means explaining the concept of the skill in a way that the student can understand what it is we are trying to do. I also try to use a pictorial representation of the skill if that is needed. After that I'll show them how I work a problem with that particular skill so they can see firsthand what the thought process is and the steps that are needed to use that particular skill whether it is adding fractions or solving equations, etc. Then I'll give the student a problem to do on their own while I guide them through the steps. If they get off on a particular step I'll correct them immediately and get them on the right path. I have a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a minor in History. I have 7 years experience as an Engineer. During my course as a math tutor, I’ve found one on one tutoring to be most effective. Each child presented different needs and was receptive to different teaching methods, so I would meet with them individually. I believe each child is just as likely to succeed as the next one, and as a tutor, it is my job to encourage and instill confidence in them.
As I approach my college graduation, I have realized how fortunate I am to have been given the opportunity to attend college. I understood the importance of understanding math in life early on and my Finance degree only validated that notion. Early this year, I began tutoring advanced math to middle school kids and found it to be a rejuvenating to see young minds eagerly waiting to be academically challenged.

We all have our strengths and weaknesses, but it is important to emphasize those strengths and minimize those weaknesses by teaching in a way that is most conducive to that student's needs. I approach tutoring from an adaptive stance, in that I believe each student learns best in his own, unique way. Some students prefer a more direct approach while others would prefer something resembling the socratic method. My ultimate goal is for the students to be comfortable and confident with the material. I graduated from Georgia Tech in 2007 with a degree in Aerospace Engineering within a span of 3 years. I spent the next year earning a Master of Science in Medical Physics degree from the same institution and I am currently a medical student at the Medical College of Georgia. As an educator,I enjoy embrassing teachable moments.I began my teaching career with Severely and Profoundly Intellectually Disabled children, who ranged in grade level from K-5. I was then granted the opportunity to teach the same class, but on a middle aged grade level. I have also, and am currently, teaching general education 8th grade students.
