I have worked as a para-educator since 1992 for the Yakima School District. My job is to translate and assist ELL students in the 8th grade mathematics and science classroom. I enjoy tutoring after school because some students learn best one on one and that gives me the opportunity to make a difference. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics with a certificate to teach 5-12, I hope that I get the opportunity to teach and make a difference in the students’ school career by showing them how not to be afraid of the mathematics.

I like teaching mathematics and have always strived to meet the learning needs and styles of each student I teach. I am a patient person and have seen much success in the learning of mathematics of my students. Students must be given examples of work and then let discover methods for solving problems. Students can go beyond their potential when they are given positive reinforcement and praise. I have tried to make a difference in the lives of my students and will continue to do so in the future.
I have worked in Mathematics Education for the past 25 years. I worked with elementary and middle school students for the first five years I taught. I then taught high school math for 1 year and have since taught adults at the University level. I spent 17 years at Heritage University and throughly enjoyed my adult students.
