A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy children and trying to teach them new and exciting things. At times, I understand that it requires patience to work with children, but if you are able to do that then chances of success are much more likely. I believe that everything we teach to these children will be needed sooner or later in life, and that the understanding of this knowledge will further improve their lives. Rewarding a student for their efforts in trying to understand the material is my game plan. I want them to feel accomplished and satisfied for their hard work.
When most high school seniors were registering for classes, they had an easy agenda planned. My intentions were entirely different. As a teacher with dyslexia I felt that I was unable to teach reading to my students. I went in search of more training and found Alphabetic Phonics a Orton Gillingham program. I have sense used what I learn in the almost 160 hours of training with 11 students and seen progress in all of them.
I love working with children and helping fulfill their potential. I like at children as water that must be directed in the right direction. I will do this my trying to find research validated methods of teaching that teaching to all the learning styles. If the child does not learn the first time I will try again and again until they have got it.
