My teaching style is whatever will make the student comfortable and most effective.
At the age of 17, I am considered a Sophomore in college and will most likely be a commissioned Air Force Officer before I am 20 years old. I have aced classes in college English, Math, as well as some sciences. I have three younger siblings and I tend to help them with their homework if they need it. I will not force any student to feel uncomfortable with a subject, if they are having trouble in a particular area, we will skip that area and come back to it.

I have a broad range of teaching experience. I've worked with students with behavior and developmental disorders, English Language Learner students, and a wide variety of ability and age levels. My previous positions allowed me to work in both rural and urban areas with students and families from various social, economic, and educational backgrounds.
I do my best to determine how each child learns and tailor my instruction accordingly. I realize not everyone processes information in the same way and work hard to vary my teaching methods as needed. If a student is struggling, I seek input from the student and their parents. Prior to and during my employment with Metropolitan Community College (Between 1998 and 2007) I was a volunteer tutor with non traditional students in the Adult Basic Education/General Education Development ABE/GED program of Metro community college.
I love to see the proverbial light come on and the students eyes widen and they say "OH! I get it!" I've tutored a wide variety of students from diverse backgrounds. I try to make mathematics fun, like a puzzle to be figured out, and remove the "hard chore" stigma which is generally hard pressed into a students mind by the time I arrive. Getting the student to believe in themselves and believe mathematics isn't a daunting task it's just difficult until you learn the tricks is my goal. I've notice most students find word problems to be most challenging so I purchased a word problem book to draw examples from which seems to help.
