I have earned three college degrees, a BA in Urban and Regional Planning,a BA in English Literature and a MA in Natural Resource Sciences. I also have over 25 years of experience as a Senior Planner and as a Planning Director, positions that required me to train and educate a staff of people. I have worked with various government officials and communities in developing schools, community centers, early childhood education centers and numerous other community facilities. I was responsible for writing grant applications which trained me in the art of writing compelling applications that were grammatically correct. I have tutored students in writing and English.

As a double major in Economics and Sociology I gained extensive experience with both mathematics as well as writing and oral presentations. In my final semester I enrolled in two graduate level classes and despite the difficulty of my class schedule worked even harder to achieve a 4.0 GPA for that semester. The combination of Economics and Sociology has provided a unique opportunity for me to develop my ability to understand complicated mathematical theories and equations and explain them in both written and oral forms. Although, I have not formally tutored, I participated in numerous study groups and have informally tutored friends. In addition I was a CPR teacher for two years.

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching all age groups. I especially like working with High School students.Initially, they can be quite a challenge to work with, but once they are engaged they are fully immersed in the topic! I like to be creative and interactive! I was a difficult High School student so I can relate to many that get bored with some topics. I really like to use transactional teaching methods. I introduce a subject and have discussions about the material rather than strictly lecturing.I like to learn what the student can teach me after assigned a reading. Have them go in the front of the room and explain a portion of the reading. It also helps them develop confidence in their public speaking.
