As an undergraduate student at Central Washington University, I was self motivated and involved in various activities. I have earned two bachelor degrees, BA in Sociology and BA in Law and Justice. In addition to these two broad areas of studies, I am a McNair Scholars recipient and conducted graduate level research. I have mentored and advised students as an employee in student affairs and as a Teacher's Assistant in the Law and Justice Department. During the last 5 years I have tutored students in Sociology, psychology, philosophy and basic grammar skills. I enjoy teaching all age groups. I especially like working with High School students.Initially, they can be quite a challenge to work with, but once they are engaged they are fully immersed in the topic! I enjoy working with children! I am patient and kind. I also have high standards and believe that everyone can reach their own potential. I celebrate the little sucesses! Part of my previous job entailed "independent work" from the students for about 2 1/2 hours each day. During this time I would work one on one with each student. This was a good challenge because everyone was working on a different level! It was exciting. I graduated from Arizona State University with a Liberal Arts degree. This enabled me to work at JCPenney, working my way up the ladder. I ended that career as a Department Manager/Merchandiser supervising up to 25 people. I continued my education at Eastern Washington University earning a teaching credential and did my student teaching in the 2nd grade. I learn in the most unheard of ways, and every childs learning style is different from the other, but that is what makes learning so fun. I aim for success and my mentoring experience for first year college students makes me a firm believer in meeting individual goals. I think that once the student finds what works best for them there is no holding them back. The discovery is the most important aspect in every childs life. I stive to give them the opportunity to reach their greatest potential and to reach for the stars from there. I attended Heritage University for 3.5 years in pursuit of my Nursing degree. I have taken College math, written many college papers, and studied alot of science along the way. I also cordinated a mentor program through YVCC for almost two years.
