My comments on tutoring Composition : I took ENG 111 and 112, college english classes, in high school as a duel enrollment class. I also took survey of American literature my first semester of college. In all three classes I wrote many papers and got good grades on all of them. I also had to write a 25 page term paper and received an A on the paper. I feel that I have very good and experienced writing composition skills. I receieved and A in all three classes.

I am now a sophomore at Germanna Community College. I have taken Algebra, Biology, English, Contemporary Mathematics, and various psychology courses. I am continuing to take more math and science classes. As a high school student I took Algebra I and II, Biology, Duel Enrollment English, and various other courses. I have received high grades in the classes I have mentioned. I feel that the college courses are my strongest points, but high school English and Algebra are strong points for me as well. I have tutored various friends, mostly in Algebra. I have a college GPA of 3.8 and I am in an honor society. I feel that I could help many struggling students with various courses with my experience in these subjects.

All Things Writing!!!

In Writing... I generally give my students a mild assessment to see how I can best help them. I also conduct all of my own lesson planning. However, I am certainly accustomed to helping students with current academic work they may already have from their current classes. The first thing that I typically help students do is get pass the creativity block (if needed). Even I, like all writers have suffered from the inability to start my essay because I didn't know what to write about or how to collect ideas for my topic. Composition is one of my top subjects! As the child of a novelist, there was an extremely heavy emphasis on composition in my education.

I love to incorporate art and sensory experiences into everything I do to really activate the brain. The "Drill and Kill" is very rarely appropriate, so I tailor every approach individually.
