I believe each student is different; therefore, I change how I approach my teachings based upon the individual.
In high school, I was on our school's speech team, I competed at the varsity level all throughout high school. I placed at every competetion, without fail. I placed in advanced English classes in high school, and tested in to the second level of English classes at Western Illinois University my freshman year. I have won state wide writing competetions, and have a poem published in a book of young writers. I went to school for Journalism and Communications, but am currently taking a year off. I have also taken and passed the Illinois basic skills test, and took 2 years of Special Education courses at Western Illinois University.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am best in a one-on-one environment and can acclimate to most personalities. I love learning and care very much about passing that on. I attempt to find each student's "barrier" to learning and customize my approach. I am especially good in the math subjects.
With my undergraduate degree in hand I taught Marketing and Sales at Whiteside Area Vocational Center in Sterling, IL, for eight years. I left teaching to enter the corporate world working for several companies, i.e., National Manufacturing Company in Sterling, Amerock Corporation in Rockford, and Greenlee-Textron in Rockford. I moved from a product manager to national account manager. Following my corporate experience I returned to tutoring students, K-12, in Princeton, IL, in math up through geometry, and specializing in tutoring students who could not go to school either due to an accident or illness.

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from the University of Iowa on May 15, 2010 with a BA in Elementary Education and a reading endorsement. Apart from my area of specialization, reading, I also took seven science courses at the University of Iowa, mainly in chemistry. My volunteer experiences have shaped the person who I am today, as I have completed over one hundred hours of volunteer work in schools and hospitals. Approximately thirty of those hours were spent one-on-one with first graders, helping them on math and reading skills and strategies. A Little Bit About Me...

My experience as a teacher has been gained through my work at Easter Seals, a pediatric physical therapy center, for which I have taught many children skills in life, communicating, and other various skills. As early as I can remember I have always wanted to have a degree that involved children. So i decided to go to college to become an Elementary School teacher. I graduated from Black Hawk College where I earned my associates degree. After completion of my associates I then transfered to Western Illinois University. I majored in Elementary Education K-9. After graduating in December of 2009 I started subbing in the Moline and Rock Island School Districts. After subbing I then took an 2010-1011 opening for a Resource Para in the Moline School District. I work with students in grades 1-3 at Butterworth Elementary. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe the best way to learn is peer-to-peer learning. As an auto-didact I have the study skills necessary to regurgitate information as taught by the current institutional models. This is an uncreative and highly unnatural way to learn. There's a reason no major discovery was made in a classroom -- true innovation, discovery and learning is an organic process.
I'm a student at Augustana College whose academic record has ranged from public school to home schooling to community college and and even private education. I've worked as a tutor for over 2 years at Black Hawk College, at the same time obtaining an Associates Degree. Throughout those years I've encountered many special needs students and many bright students, tutoring in subjects ranging from English, Math, Social Studies, to Computer Science.
