I enjoy working with children of all ages. I believe that because each child is different, they learn differently, and therefore I must find a teaching style that helps that particular study achieve their maximum ability. I understand that some students are more visual while others may be auditory. As a teacher I witnessed first hand the challenges students face in public schools. Due to the importance placed on standardized tests, students are often taught with a single focus in mind. Often times the different needs and learning styles of students are overlooked or ignored completely. I, on the other hand, prefer to take a holistic approach to education. Student’s goals should be clearly outlined and data driven. An individual learning plan should be designed for the student based on his or her strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles. This plan should elicit student investment and should allow for teachers and tutors to measure both mastery and growth of the student.

I began tutoring in the third grade after I was accepted into Independent Study Classes. I was selected to tutor my fellow classmates in spelling and reading comprehension. My volunteer tutoring continued throughout my grade school years and into my higher education career. Once in college, I was hired as a mental health worker and tutor to austitic children. I have always excelled in reading comprehension, writing skills, and English communication classes. I have earned a BS in Physical Education. My major was Athletic Training, which has prepared me to gain extensive knowledge in Biology and Anatomy & Phys. I also have prior tutoring experience helping with students at my church and family members who were younger than me. I have helped tutor students with all major subjects.
I am a patient, understanding, and considerate person. I love the sight of a child learning something after a person takes the time to show the steps. A Little Bit About Me...

When teaching I like to put myself in the child's shoes and think "how can I make this understandable?" When teaching you must make the materials interesting and enjoyable for the learner. I enjoy bringing hands on materials into my lessons whenever possible and use positive feedback to encourage the child.
I recently graduated from the University of South Carolina-Aiken and hold a BA in Early Childhood Education. I am a certified K-3 teacher and I am currently pursuing my MAED online. I have obtained great experience working with children of all ages for 5 plus years, including teaching and tutoring.
