I studied Mandarin Chinese beginning in high school, going on through college, and most recently attended the Defense Language Institute where I maintained a 4.0 GPA in their intensive Mandarin course. Throughout all my years learning Chinese I was also a tutor to fellow students and students in the lower level courses. Chinese is my passion and I absolutely love learning and teaching it! My strongest area of expertise in teaching is reading. I have taught it for years. I have come to the conclusion through both personal experience, observation of other master teachers and through current educational research that it is most necessary to teach reading and math daily in a systematic manner while exposing the students to a learning rich environment(a classroom reading corner full of books is ideal for this). Research shows that a child needs 100 exposures, repetitions of for example the word “fox” to learn how to read it and make it their own.

I have earned a BS in Physical Education. My major was Athletic Training, which has prepared me to gain extensive knowledge in Biology and Anatomy & Phys.
