I realize that learning reading and writing skills can be difficult. When I teach young people, I work to push each person patiently but constantly to improve with each lesson. Each person learns a little differently, and I like to learn the student’s strengths and weaknesses and work from there. I support hands-on learning. There is only so much a person can talk about writing. The best way to learn writing is to write. The best way to improve reading comprehension is to read. Reading unlocks vocabulary. And a good vocabulary helps in written and verbal communication. I know the different learning styles of visual, auditory and kinestetic are important to identify with the student to help them achive thier ultimate learning experience. Since graduating from Missouri State in the fall of 2009 with my Bachelor's Degree in Spanish education I have been substituting with Sparta schools and Republic schools. I have also been tutoring a student in Spanish. I completed my student teaching in the fall of 2009 with Ozark High School and Springfield Catholic School. Before then I spent several years working with kids at book festivals and in Mexico through Second Baptist Church. Children want to learn. It is the job and responsibility of the teacher to show enough concern and ability to show these children how to learn. I try to always remember when I was younger and had a great deal of difficutly learning to read and write, how the teacher who helped me went about doing it so I could learn. She made learning fun, exciting and most of all important. I wanted to learn and enjoyed it so deeply I eventually went to college and earned my degree.

I am a very patient teacher. If it seems someone is 'just not getting it' I will try a different approach. People learn at different levels, and what works for one does not always work for another; therefore,finding the way for each individual student is the key. I have also found that most people learn a task by 'hands on' learning, not listening to how it should be done.
