A Little Bit About Me...

I have a strong background in English grammar and composition as well as the basic sciences-especially geology and geography (Master of Science degree). This includes a lifetime "A" avgerage in English spelling, grammar, and composition, a 15-unit "A" grade on my master's thesis, as well as experience as a college English Tutor and college notetaker for the disabled. I also earned an "A" average for all Geogrpahy/Earth Sciences-related subjects. These attributes help make me a well-rounded candidate for tutoring.
My teaching style is that I determine how best the student learns through observation and direct incouragement, instilling confidence for them to break through all barriers. I have a passion for helping people, and nothing satifies me more than helping a person understand a concept and succeed in his or her class. I teach using a lot of examples and incorporating the concepts into the example problems so that the student can see how the examples are based on the concepts. I strive to know the students well so they don't just see me as a tutor but also as a friend who is easily approachable with questions.
I worked for over 2 years as a study session leader for various engineering courses while getting my B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. I also tutored several students in engineering classes at the college level. I have experience working with elementary through high school students as well.
