A Little Bit About Me...

I have always emphasized the immeasurable distinction between education and schooling. Although the two are not necessarily mutually exclusive, in our era they are more and more. I strive to draw a student into a fascination with learning. If that occurs, then education is a fait accompli.
I taught High School US, World and European history to grades 10 - 12. I taught AP European History and Government. I taught Geography, Civics, and Psychology for 5 years. I have owned my own construction firm for 10 years and worked in manufacturing. My specialty is European History with an emphasis in the classics. Through my years in my last position I was able to witness firsthand how different teaching styles worked well for different children. The one common factor was that if I could make it fun and add an element of hands on type activities the lessons were retained better. My teaching style can be called old-fashioned: the best results come from patient, focused, disciplined time on task. To learn math one must work a variety of problems, and practice them diligently.
