Teaching has always been a passion for me, but I have learned over the years that each individual has a unique way of learning. The job of a teacher is to find the channel into that learning style. As a high school German exchange student and subsequent German major, I have more than textbook knowledge of the German language. My fluency comes from real-world interactions as well as attending a German high school. I taught courses at the University of Richmond for students of German wishing to practice their language skills, yet whose competency may not have been to the standard for a traditional literature class. Furthermore, I received an International Baccalaureate Diploma with high marks for my high school subjects (concentrations in Music History and Theory, German Language, English Literature, and European History). The IB program is more rigorous than many college programs, and with this experience, I feel that I would be qualified to tutor any student in high school courses.
