I have worked with students who were given up on years before, but once the met me, they evolved and became what so many said they never would become, educated.Vgotsky talked about the zone of proximal development and potential. I believe I teach to reach the highest level of potential and often come very close. I am a fantastic Highly Qualified Educator who gives all I have and then finds where to get more when I run out of ideas.
The school of Education in North Carolina prepared me well. I am above all flexible. My license reads K-8 and I have taught Art K-6 for a year, Second Grade for two years in NC. I have experience as an instructor while in the Marine Corps, and during that time I have found that I am really suited to teaching. The idea of giving new knowledge to people of all ages is an exciting one. I have done some substitute teaching at Athens Elementary School. I have found that I get along well with children and that they like me.
I have found that children like me and will listen to what I have to say. I try and teach the best way possible according to each child's needs. I am patient and will take as much time that is needed to teach your child. To me time is of no importance compared to children's need to learn.

One of the first graduates of a dual degree program from Lesley College(www.lesley.edu),I received a BS/MEd in Early Childhood Education specializing in Early Intervention in 1999. Beginning in June of 1999, I raised my three children full-time. During that time, I worked part-time as a Therapeutic Mentor for PSC of Maine(www.provcorp.com). PSC is a behavioral health agency that serves at-risk school-aged children and their families. Soon after arriving in NC in 2008, I obtained my Birth-K teaching lisence and, in 2009, began teaching full-time for the More-at-Four Pre-K program(www.darecountyschoolsonline). I am returning to Maine with my family in July of 2011, as my husband is retiring from the USCG after 20 years of service.
