The curriculum at UNLV has given me a solid foundation in both my written and verbal communication skills. I also completed the gerontology program as well in 2007. I have been involved with senior theater programs, and I am currently mentoring for a non-profit organization. The program is for senior men who are 55 years of age, and are trying to obtain a GED and re-enter the workforce. I also have two young children that are currently in 2nd. and 3rd. grade. While I have no direct experience teaching in a classroom or one on one setting, I have been a mentor for over 8 years. As a mentor I have worked with young ladies between the ages of 11-20. I have assisted in helping them to learn memorization, public speaking, planning and fulfilling commitments. What I have learned from this when working one on one is that each child has a different way of thinking and learning.
