A Little Bit About Me...

I know firsthand that great teachers make great students. It took several years to discover my learning style because I had to find it on my own. I want to be able to help students find their own learning style. I believe that subjects are best learned when broken down, and repetition is key. I also believe practice makes perfect. I know that a student needs to know the basics first, then can move on to more complex ideas.
In earning my bachelors of science degree at the University of South Carolina Aiken, I gained a true love for biology. I excelled in entry-level biology classes, as well as higher-level science classes such as ecology and evolution. I am also proficient in writing, English, and math. I was hired full-time to teach in the sciences at a private college in Michigan. The subjects I taught included Anatomy and Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Nutrition, Chemistry and more. Over three years, I advanced to Dean of Health Sciences, and while I set up and administered programs in that area, I continued to teach in the sciences. After I moved to Wilmington, I taught for Miller-Motte College and one semester at Hoggard High School in Chemistry and Earth Science.
