As a student at the University of Detroit Mercy, I worked as a tutor for two years. I helped other students struggling in mathematics and biology classes. Also, my senior year in college I worked as a Teaching Assistant for a Microbiolgy lab. In addition, I did student teaching for a Catholic Middle School.
Many people have different teaching skills and techniques. I do not believe any technique to educate a child is better than any other technique. Each child learns differently. Understanding the fact that children learn differently is crucial. The teacher must be able to adapt to the child's learning style. As a high school student I tutored as part of the National Honor Society for 2 years. I tutored elementary and middle school students in group settings after school. I helped them with all subjects. After graduating from Michigan State University I have been tutoring privately in college level mathematics. I also attended a semester of Medical School and at the end of the semester I was selected to be a teaching assistant for Anatomy. I assisted for a few weeks but then I had to leave medical school due to bereavement reasons. My experience as an assistant for those weeks was very exciting, but was similar to how I interacted with my lab partners in making sure that everyone knew the material the previous semester.
