Theresa S - Raeford, NC 28376 (32.3 mi) - Organic Chemistry Tutor - $37.50/hr.
During my schooling, I have earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education as well as a master's in Library and Information Studies. In addition I have teaching certificates for both fields as well as Biology. I've held Library, Biology, General Science, English and Math teaching positions. I also have experience tutoring students in all of these areas. I am an avid believer in authentic learning and have taught using differential instruction for many years. I believe that students learn by doing and therefore provide real life experiences to allow students to learn at their own pace.

Jeffrey M - Hope Mills, NC 28348 (37.6 mi) - Organic Chemistry Tutor - $35.00/hr.
I enjoy teaching and helping other students understand difficult material. I love to use diagrams and other visual teaching tools. Often I relate biology to everyday life situations to help students understand better. Every student learns differently, but the material can be understood by every student. As a graduate student, I have successfully tutored a number of undergraduate students. I received my BS in Biology and minor in Chemistry. Currently, I have 15 graduate semester hours including Advanced biochemistry, parasitology, Advanced botany, and Plant development. In addition, I have extensively learned proper laboratory research paper formatting. I have tutored Anatomy/Physiology, general chemistry, and pharmacology.

George M - FAYETTEVILLE, NC 28303 (39.9 mi) - Organic Chemistry Tutor - $57.00/hr.
Having struggled through four years of attempting to learn chemistry at the undergraduate level, listening to “inarticulate though erudite” lectures on various topics in chemistry in the dank, damp, hallowed halls of the University of Paisley, I was determined to redress the balance in favor of the student. My ideas on education have not changed much since those early days, though perhaps now I am better qualified to express these sentiments in line with stated educational theory. What I knew then intuitively, and dealt with likewise, I can now begin to better explain in a more formal language, learned, in the most part, as a Postgraduate student at Jordanhill College of Education. My teaching style has evolved somewhat since then. I mostly give mini-lectures immediately followed by student problem solving work. I then get input from the students on how to solve a problem, and then show

Whitney W - Fayetteville, NC 28311 (45.9 mi) - Organic Chemistry Tutor - $35.50/hr.
The best way to describe my teaching style is to find a creative way to remember material. For example, I have a child that had to memorize his prepositions. We made up a song that included them all, in order. It turned out to something like this....ABOARD a ship AS we were traveling ABOUT eight knots, etc. This style was very effective for memorizing. For subjects that require more understanding than memorizing, I prefer my "teach and try" method. This means that I go through multiple problems with a student explaining the steps involved. Then, I set-up a mock test to test their abilities solo. I therefore can grasp their understanding and pinpoint their weaknesses. I have recently graduated from North Carolina State University with a BS in Biological Sciences with a minor in Genetics. During college, I taught/tutored 7th graders at a local middle school in the areas of math and science

Kayleen A - Spring Lake, NC 28390 (47.3 mi) - Organic Chemistry Tutor - $34.00/hr.
I attended Saginaw Valley State University in Michigan, one of the top 2 school in teaching in Michigan. In college, I tutored Biology and Chemistry. Most of my Chemistry students still thank me today for getting them through the course and into the nursing program. I graduated with a BS in secondary education,Biology with a minor in Chemistry. I have been in North Carolina for almost 4 years and I have taught Biology, Chemistry, and Physical Science. I also enjoy Math. I am able to tutor Math students up to and including Algebra I. I have taken several courses on the different styles of learning. I try to find out what style works best for my students and work from there. I know several ways to solve Chemistry problems and I try different ones if the first method does not work. I have learned to use many analogies when teaching Biology. I find that students remember more when t
