At the start of my college career, I began tutoring for Calculus. I received an offer from a Professor at Lafayette who had heard about me. She and her husband had two children who were accellerated two years above their classmates. I tutored both children once or twice a week in both of their respective mathematics courses as well.
I love working with people, especially children. I have been a Crew Trainer at each job I've had because of my ability to relate, connect and teach others. I am very patient and easy-going. My teaching style is: First I give assessment to find out what level of knowlege the student has. According to that I prepare a lesson plan. My first quarter of the session is to go over the homework problems and second quarter I give lecture and 3rd quarter I do practice exercises and the final quarter I take question from student. The student is required to read the material ahead of the class session. And I give home work problems from what was covered in the session.

My approach to tutoring is to first make the student feel comfortable and to realize that they are not "stupid" or inferior because they need help. Then I find out specifically where they are having difficulties and concentrate on that area. If they still are having difficulties in that area, I will move on to the next topic so that they don't get frustrated.
