I took votech business class in high school for three years. I am advanced in all of the microsoft office applications. I also have taken two years of accounting. I have taught special education since August of 1989. I began at Dunn Middle School with a mildly mentally handicapped self-contained class. After three years I taught for one year at Clayton Primary in a multi-handicapped class. I then transferred to Four Oaks Middle School in 1993 where I continue to teach. The first year there I taught a self-contained mentally handicapped class, and since then I have taught through the inclusion model. Because I have been teaching since the 1970s, I have extensive experience in several teaching styles and have a creative sensibility. I prefer to assess the student before making a determination as to the choice of learning strategies. I work well in a one-on-one approach.
I am a retired college English professor who taught several college transfer courses at the community college level. I also worked as a tutor for several years at the college. I hold a master's degree in Creative Writing and English Literature. My undergraduate degree is in Speech Correction. Currently, I am writing screenplays and making short films.
