As a young child I was diagnosed with dyslexia. I have worked hard to to get my degree and have overcome many challenges. During my schooling, I have earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education as well as a master's in Library and Information Studies. In addition I have teaching certificates for both fields as well as Biology. I've held Library, Biology, General Science, English and Math teaching positions. I also have experience tutoring students in all of these areas. I am an avid believer in authentic learning and have taught using differential instruction for many years. I love teaching all grades and levels. The most important aspect of teaching is to know your student. Each individual learns in different ways, some are tactile learners, some are visual, and some are auditory learners. Incorporating all aspects into my teaching style assists the retention of the material. It also has to be relatable to the student, so we have to use relevant examples that they understand. All children can learn any subject if you can spark their interest. There is no better feeling than seeing the light turn on and the sense of accomplishment in a child's eyes. I have completed all courses for my Associates Degree and was a trainer at my previous position.
