I hold a bachelor of science in Biology (cum laude) from Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA and attended graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine where I studied Molecular and Cell Biology and completed all coursework required of the Ph.D. Since graduate school, I have over 10 years of biology research experience in both academic and biotech settings. My research, teaching and training experience covers the entirety of essential topics in biology and chemistry. I use all methods of second language acquisition in my teaching. Most of the exercises I use to help beginning are communicative methods. It's better to get them speaking and writing and build their confidence than to just use rote memorization or drills. If I think the audio-lingual method will help a more advanced student, I suggest and practice this method with them. If reading in the language with the translation side by side helps, we will practice that. I bear all forms of cognitive learning in mind when tutoring a student. I strive to help in whatever way I can.
