Enthusiastic teacher seeks to work with a young mind

I'm laid back and like to draw the student's interests. I love small details and histories and to make a student think.
I've worked in the ESL (or related) field for a total of 8 years. I was a Foreign Language Expert in China for 3 years and am finishing my 4th year as a rater for the TOEFL exam. I believe that for languages, immersion is the best, if most impractical, way of teaching. Therefore, it is my goal to speak as much in the target language as possible in order to increase exposure to the language. I also believe that repetition is key, but through interactive games and everyday tasks, the rote memorization disappears within the layers of common use. Whether through writing it out, singing a song, or playing a game, each child's individual learning style affects how we can learn together.
I spent a year in Spain teaching English to elementary school students through games and interactive methods. I tutored Auburn students during my time there, and have worked with kids of all ages since I was 12. I am fluent in Spanish and highly proficient in French. I have been writing for my whole life, and have a love of the art that is description. Since Mich of humanity's understanding is based on metaphor, description and its subtleties is a key part of any writing process, be it creative or instructional.My favorite form of writing is creative, however I also enjoy writing essays and other pieces based on fact. No matter what form of writing you endeavor to do, getting your point across through description is paramount. I have placed and won poetry contests, and have written many essays of undergraduate and graduate levels.
