Creative Writing is one of my top subjects!

Hello- Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Mandy M. I am a graduate of Morrison University with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and a year towards my Master's in Business Administration. At this point, one might wonder why I would be interested in tutoring when my education is in the accounting world. Well, the simple answer is that I possess many facets to my education and wish to help the next generation obtain the knowledge that I was privileged to be given. I was homeschooled for my high school years with an exceptional accredited course. The quality of my high school education prepared me well for college. While the English and Math programs were detailed and grueling, I have retained the information and used it to grow. I have no experience as yet in tutoring. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from Sonoma State with a BA in English, Single subject emphasis. I am taking a year off before I go back to get my teaching credential in reading. The majority of my classes were geared towards the teaching of reading and writing and I feel confident in my ability to help students improve in those areas. I also worked in a High School writing center and tutored for the past two semesters. I love being around kids and helping them. Currently I live in Tahoe City, but am more than willing to drive to Reno or other areas as well.

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy working with kids and teaching the things that I have learned. I am confident that I can make concepts as simple as possible, so people who usually have trouble understanding ideas in math and science may have a breakthough. Coming from a very competitive school like UCLA I have acquired skills in test taking which are very valuable and I would like to pass these on to prospective college students.
As a Biology student at both Saddleback and the ultra competitive UCLA, I was able to achieve high marks in all of the core cirriculum. Subjects I am very familar with are physics, chemistry, math up to 1st semester calculus, biology and biochem.I also recieved an A in every english class I have ever attended. I think that kids light up life and make it interesting. That's why I love working with them. I love the intellectual stimulation of the older age groups and the academic challenge they present. However, I love working with the younger kids as well, learning their fresh take on life and watching them learn HOW to learn is like watching life happen before your eyes. I think the most important concept for me, as a tutor, to remember, is to allow the student to arrive at the answer themselves. To get them to think, and by thus doing so, empower them to sharpen their skills and learn independently.
