SAT - Math is one of my top subjects! SAT Math is one of my specialties. Math always came to me, but this test was not the most difficult to study for. I Scored a 770 on the math section, and 790 on the SAT II Math I Subject Test. I know the test inside and out and am very good at helping people to learn the strategies to understand what the question is asking and answer it in a timely maner.

Teaching new concepts, practice applying the new material, review, and more practice of the material to solidify the concepts.
I have helped my classmates and have had one official student as of this summer. However, I have learned how to explain concepts so that students dont just memorize, they will gain a thought process and applicable knowledge that will enable them to solve even the most complex problems. Having this mentality of preparation and success will being them to reach their goals.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a senior, math major at Marist College. I have a strong background in calculus and algebra. Scored a 700 on my math SAT section. Math is something that I am extremely passionate about and believe that STEM majors are the best ones to get you far in the world. I also have a strong background in cognitive thinking and leadership.
I enjoy working with students who want to learn and grow. I am very relaxed and don't just read from the book and give examples. I like to help the student with examples first and then put them to the test.

I am not a teacher; I am an awakener!

I have taught in the education field since 1999. I am very fortunate to have had the privilege of working with a multitude of learners in a variety of environments. Early in my career I worked with adults that were mentally and physically challenged. I found this very rewarding and decided to pursue a degree in education, which lead me on my journey into the world of Special Education. I began working with children and young adolescents who had a variety of special needs and learning styles; I went on to specialized Autism and Special Education for K-12. After working with young children for many years I decided to branch out to work with young adolescents and adults pursuing their high school equivalency. Working with young adolescents and adults proved to be just as rewarding as working with small children. Helping someone achieve a life long dream of obtaining their high school diplom ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have had the opportunity to work with all grade levels in a variety of disciplines; however I have had the most experience at the secondary level and am certified to teach 7th-12th grade mathematics. I have privately tutored students for five years and have just obtained my secondary mathematics certfication this year. In addition, I have substitute taught and went through a full year of student teaching this past year. I was not only the valedictorian of my high school, but also the valedictorian of my college. I graduated Sage Graduate School this year with a 4.0 GPA.
Martin Luther King Jr. stated that, "the function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence, plus character-that is the goal of education." I agree with this statement and will not only teach my students secondary mathematics, but also how to be successful in t ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy helping people acquire knowledge. I have experienced the full spectrum of both poor and excellent instructors myself, so I am aware of what needs to be done in order to facilitate learning. I assess the abilities of each person I work with and develop an approach accordingly. I think that a combination of patience and humor can provide for an outstanding learning environment, and I employ this approach when teaching.
Both my Education and work experiences have thoroughly enhanced both my knowledge, as well as my communications skills. Having a degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry, I have attained knowledge in various fields of science. I have been gifted with a natural ability to communicate, and my experiences in both work and study have enhanced both my verbal and my written communication skill. Both in college as well in camps, I have had the privilege of tutoring ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

At my Ivy League college, we were taught not just facts, but how to learn. This invaluable skill has stood me well and put me in an excellent position to teach. I have continued to love to learn and retained my strengths in both critical reading and in math. I recently took the SAT to demonstrate my qualification for tutoring and scored in the 98th percentile. I have always had a knack for taking a complicated topic and being able to explain it simply and clearly. I can tell when students do not completely understand – despite what they may say – and will stick with a concept until it is demonstrably clear. I have tutored colleagues in computer programs, taught an adult class at the community college and tutored students in English as a Second Language and in math.
I believe teaching is more than just showing how to solve a problem, but is helping the student to discover the “big ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I enjoy helping students understand the principles they are dealing with, rather than focusing on helping them simply "get the answer" to the problem at hand. My goal is for them to be able to generalize the concept and apply it in different contexts. To develop interest, I seek to discuss related information or similar problems as much as possible. For Physics in particular, this approach is key to providing a sound foundation for future learning.
Most of my career has been spent at IBM, where I built on my Physics background for a broad range of opportunities. I am now seeking to move into a teaching career and plan to start a Masters in Teaching in the Fall of 2009. During my educational development, I taught for three years in undergraduate and graduate school as part of the duties of a teaching Assistant. I have tutored secondary school students for the last 5 years in M ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

My educational career was full of challenges that have given me a broad basis of knowledge for tutoring. In high school, I earned the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma. I subsequently earned a BS in Ceramic Engineering and an MBA in Operations Management. I started tutoring in high school when I managed a literacy program that paired high school students with students at a local elementary school. In college, I tutored math and physics through a formal program at the high school. After graduation, I continued to tutor, and in the past six years, I have tutored many students in all levels of mathematics (elemenatary, high school, and college). A Little Bit About Me...

I have a double degree in Accounting and Finance and have had the opportunity to put these degrees to use in the workplace. Whether it's financial statement analysis or remediation, I have the hands on experience in accounting and finance that enables me to relate classroom concepts to real world problems. Being able to teach real world applications helps the student understand the reasons behind the rules established by the leading authorities in accounting.
I thoroughly enjoy accounting and would be honored to work with children and young adults in teaching them the skills I have gained throughout the years. I believe in teaching hands on and focusing on children's strengths rather than their weaknesses. I also have the patience and the desire to work with children and teach them the fundamentals of accounting. Their future can be promising if they master the basics. Once the b ... read more

I am a life long learner, and encourage all students to be life long learners as well. I love working with all children and have a true confidence that all children can learn, although possibly through different teaching styles. I am patient and work well with others (parents/guardians/professionals) to meet the needs of each and every student. I find that the environment in which the student is placed plays a major role in how and what is learned. My main goal is to make a difference in all students' lives and find that the most rewarding parts of teaching derive from the nurturing relationships I forged with every student and the sense of confidence they felt as they experienced success and growth within themselves.
Through my University’s thorough teacher preparation program, I worked with general education students and students with disabilities. I promote the development and w ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a passion for children, I strongly believe in educating the younger generation due to the fact that they are the future. My philosophy is every child can be academically successful; however, one needs to know and understand their ways of learning. I am easy going, patient and friendly in fact; many consider me as an older version of a child. My objective make is to make sure that my students are a success.
I have earned an associate degree in Criminal Justice/ Forensics science, at NVCC as well as my certificate in the legal program at Training Direct. I am a senior at the University of Hartford pursuing my Bachelor degree in biochemistry. A Little Bit About Me...

As a hardworking individual with excellent communication skills, I would like to explore the possibility of putting my talents and experience to help children. Currently I have a successful and satisfying career with Artwell Gallery, a nonprofit community based art gallery. However I am looking forward to embarking on a new career. I hold a BA in Radio, Television, and Film from Rowan University. For three years I worked in a pre-school teaching Art to students aged three to five.
I had once been told by a very seasoned teacher that "If you can not go through the front door find an open window." She opened my eyes to creative, and interesting ways to stimulate young minds. I love helping children learn, and finding their open window. A great teacher can incorporate different styles of teaching to adapt to a child's learning ability.
