My teaching style is very hands on. I like to show the student how its done and make them repeat the process over until the concepts are understood. I also like the students to have choices and some sort of control over their own learning processes so that there is mutual respect amongst peers and myself.
About midway through my studies at Northeastern University, I started teaching in after-school programs. There I taught middle school and high school ages kids how to DJ and produce music. In 1997 I was a teacher assistant for the Huntington Park High School music department. I ran rehearsals with the marching band, jazz band, jazz choir, beginning orchestra, and beginning band. In April of 2000 I started working at Middleton Street School where I had the music program under my direction for almost ten years. Growing up, I was always interested in Physics, Math and Science. I started tutoring elementary students about a year and a half ago. I also teach swimming to all levels and ages at the City of Cerritos.
