Chemistry is one of my top subjects! I have had the good fortune of tutoring several high school and college students in chemistry over the years and would welcome the opportunity to serve in that capacity again.

Over the past several years, I have tutored several high school and college students in chemistry and would welcome the opportunity to serve in that capacity again. One college student that I tutored failed his first two exams before I began tutoring him. After I began working with him, through his hard work, he did well on the third exam, passed the course, and continued on in the program that he was in. He recently graduated with a degree in pharmacy. Another student that I tutored got a 2 out of 10 on his first quiz before I started working with him and through his persistence, he improved significantly and got a B+ in the course. I would look forward to the opportunity to help other students in similar situations.
My philosophy is that, as long as students don't give up on themselves, I won't give up on them either. Often, when students first come to me for tutoring, they are f ... read more

Tutored (recommended by school) fellow classmates elementary though college and various friends and family. Was the type of student that would teach myself and help others that were behind. I work hard to learn about others and help them in the way they need to be helped. Education is a journey and having the right tour guide is the most important part.

Pittsburgh Tutor/Teacher

I have studied the indicated fields for over two years at high school and university levels. Also, I have taught English as a Second Language as an intern while studying abroad in London for one semester. For this position, I taught from self-made exercises, lesson plans, and individualised activities focusing on English comprehension, writing, communication, grammar, and literature.
I prefer to incorporate student participation as much as possible instead of giving lecture-style instruction to learn their unique learning styles and to understand more about my students. With this understanding, I will be able to understand how I can better instruct them and test them on the material being taught.

A Little Bit About Me...

Completing a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics in less than four years took dedication and excellent study skills. So far, I have only tutored people in Calculus, and Physics, but I am comfortable with Differential Equations, Discrete Math, freshman Chemistry and Biology, and pretty much anything Computer Science related at the undergraduate level.
I am excellent at breaking things down and making them easy to remember. Relating the subject material to something the learner can understand is key. I am very patient and will take the time to learn how to help each student in the most productive way I can.

As a graduate student I taught an undergraduate engineering lab course for a semester, and spend 2-3 additional semesters grading tests and assignments for various undergraduate level courses in mechanical engineering. In addition, I also worked as a tutor during my senior year in high school, as well as at various times while an undergraduate student in college. The subjects that I have teaching/tutoring experience are in the fields of math and science.
I feel that it is important to explain basic underlying theory behind science and math, as well as presenting these topics in a step by step, logical manner. I feel it is important to teach methods for how to obtain a solution and not rely on rot memorization of facts and equations.

A Little Bit About Me...

The experience of teaching students, though complicated at times, was extremely rewarding. I felt a sense of joy when my students understood a concept here and there. I soon realized I was slowly becoming a role model to younger students that were interested in studying chemistry. My experiences as a graduate student and teaching assistant enhanced my curiosity and desire to help young scholars achieve their dreams. One of my main goals of teaching is to promote active learning which will be approach using real case studies, minute paper and concept maps to review previous student’s knowledge and draw a parallel of the concepts discussed in the lecture.
I have a Ph.D in Chemistry in 2008. I have taught chemistry labs for 4 years in my graduate school. From 1999-2001, I was tutoring students from elementary school up to high school in math and science classes

I am a current student with Duquesne University working on a dual masters degree in Corporate Communications and Multimedia Technology. I am a 2007 graduate of Capital University and hold a bachelors degree in Mathematics with a minor in communications. I completed 3 years of coursework in Chemical Engineering before deciding to switch to Mathematics and am therefore well versed in both the maths and sciences. Math teachers are notorious for being vague or teaching solely from text. I believe understanding mathematics does not necessarily make you fit to teach it. I have had great success adapting to a student's language and using analogies to make math come to life. It's a fact that no human likes an act ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I like to teach using examples, either on a board to show a person step by step first. Then try to give the student examples to try to solve themselves. If this does not work I continue to breakdown a problem until we can clearly identify where the student is having trouble.
I have helped tutor friends’ kids on math from little school to high school. I have taken math all the way up to Differential equations and feel alright tutoring up to calculus one. I do not possess documented experience from schools or other organizations. I am a very highly motivated individual that does not mind helping others. I also have experience in teaching or helping coach little league sports educating kids on how to play games correctly. I have also been an assistant coach and helped out at Clinton Community College with girl’s softball under the head coach.
