I have worked hard at learning German. Although all I speak right now fluently is German and English, I am working on French as well. Having this cornerstone in languages is very important to success as a tutor, because unless you can explain things, you're unable to succeed. I also think in a very step-by-step process, and found that this brought me academic success in Mathematics and Computer Science. I aim to work with people, by basically a read of the person and then testing them if I need more information. Since I married a military officer, we moved often, so I had a chance to do substitute teaching at all grade levels and all subjects. I also developed the ability to adjust quickly to new environments due our frequent moves. It was a way to learn to teach numerous methods depending on the area of the country. I love teaching. While I have also been a counselor and administrator, I managed to be able to at least tutor along the way, with a few exceptional years. I found that children were especially responsive to me, so I often found myself with elementary children (who, under my tutelage, managed to "catch up" an/or improve their grade point average -- often to their parents' delight).
