I have somewhat a charismatic style of teaching in that I can quickly get excited when I'm teaching. When I teach, I am very organized and have a firm grip on I'm trying to relay across to my students, because I feel that one of the worse things a tutor can do to a student is to get up to teach and sound as if he or she doesn't know what they are talking about. I am person who expects a lot of the people I tutor as so I would hope they expect a lot from me as well. I encourage students to always to do their best and never accept anything less of that. A Little Bit About Me...

My experience as a teacher has shown me the importance of an open mind and a thoughtful response. I believe learning comes out of asking questions. It is the instructor's job to encourage thoughtful questions. To do this, the student must be made to feel at ease around the teacher and confident enough to ask the questions they really need answered to succeed. If a student is ridiculed for asking a "stupid" question there is less chance of that student asking questions in the future and less chance of the student succeeding in a course.
I hold a BS in Chemistry from Utah State University and have completed the requirements for a MS in Chemistry from the University of Oregon. Although I have earned my degree, BS in Psychology, my previous education includes 2 years at St. John's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico and 2 years of Engineering at Oregon State University. The years at St. John's have given me the unusual ability to tutor students in Ancient Greek. They laid a foundation in Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry and Calculus which the years of Engineering built up further. A Little Bit About Me...

I began college level scientific research when I was a senior in high school by volunteering in a UO chemistry lab. Since then I have: measuring tectonic plate movement in the Caribbean, creating models of multi-phase flow, and testing the accuracy of GPS in devices like BlackBerry and Droid phones for vehicle fuel-use modeling. I have two bachelors degrees, BS in mathematics and BS in geology. In addition my passion for math and science was acknowledged with a Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship honorable mention.
