A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is focused on the assumption that my students are capable of reaching their greatest potential. I provide a comfortable learning environment, and expect my student to be at ease when working with me. It is incumbent upon me to discover the learning styles to which each of my students are most receptive. I expect greatness and use positive reinforcement when students deliver. I really like working with children from low income families. I think each child has a different interest and way of learning. I try to discover these learning styles before I begin the tutoring process. I try to allow them to be comfortable and having fun during our sessions. Most of the time I do a lot of question/conversation responses to allow them to find the answer for themselves. I like a problem based learning style, even for the youngest of children. I not only want to teach them how to properly concur their learning material but how to find the information they need if they do not know the answer. I want to first stress that I am only an assistant on their learning journey, not the protagonist. I have been working as a private tutor from my home or student's home for 3 years. I have tutored elementary through college level students. I am able to teach a variety of subjects, however my forte is English and Composition. I have the honor of being a published author. I am an expert in MLA or APA style writing.
