I have taught ESL for 17 years to children and adults from all over the world. I have a strong command of language arts and am experienced at teaching literacy, grammar, vocabulary, spelling, essay writing, phonics, pronunciation, etc. I coordinate the after school enrichment program and annual play at Earl LeGette Elementary School. In 1995, I began my official tutoring odyssey by assisting my classmates in AP Calculus. Every day during lunch I spent my half-hour helping my fellow high school seniors succeed, ultimately achieving a 4/5 on the AP exam and guiding others to similar grades. Since those days I have tutored in-home and taught mathematics at the private secondary school level, fostering student knowledge of various concepts from arithmetic to calculus. In 1963-64 I attended the Institute for American Universities in France, and also visited many other countries around the world, all of which increased my interest in languages and social studies. I taught upper elementary classes for 5 years, and after working in many other fields, taught ESOL for12 years as a private tutor, for Berlitz Languages, and for adults in the San Juan District with a specialty in pronunciation. I substituted in a wide variety of classes in middle and high schools in Elk Grove, and have tutored students aged 4 to 60 in social studies, English writing, including composition, reading, speaking and listening.
