My comments on tutoring Geometry : Very Strong

I did an Undergraduate in Science with an honors in Chemistry, followed by an M.Sc. in Biochemistry and a PhD in Biochemistry. I was actively involved in Cancer Research in the Department of Biochemistry and have authored over 40 publications. Although I have expertise in Chemistry and Biochemistry, I have a passion for Math that includes Algebra 1 &2 , Pre-calculus, and Geometry.
My favorite teaching style is the classical Black Board style that may involve Power Point presentations. I am very patient with my students and like to believe that I have the capability to make every student learn.

All can learn, the difference,some just take a little longer

I have been teaching high school math in the San Antonio Texas Charter system. I was hired as a highly qualified teacher and l recently retired in 2012. I believe all students are capable of learning the materials but unfortunately some students need more time or direction. My comments on tutoring Geometry : Experienced

It is based on how the student learns. I like to explain the subject and then give and help workout examples. I learn by this method and have learned most other students do also, however some students need objects or physical representation, especially in lower level mathematics and I can accommodate every method of learning.
While attending California State University of San Bernardino and working on my bachelors degree in mathematics I had many opportunities to gain experience. I was a private tutor which included students from elementary, middle, and high school. One child I tutored, who was in middle school, was very bright but had ADHD and it was difficult for him to concentrate. I am a certified teacher and have been teaching for 8 years in elementary school. I began my teaching career by accident leaving the law enforcement field to work initially part-time as a teacher. However I really enjoyed working with children and found that I was good at it. Over the years it has been nice to hear both parents, teachers, and children comment that I have made a difference in their lives and that I have helped make them the young people that they are shaping to be. Many children and parents have said that while I was tough I have helped them stay in school and become A students. This motivates me to continue to do my best in my job and for the kids.
