I love working with children of all ages. I can say I am patient enough to deal with elementary students being that I've done so before. I love to have fun with learning and can bring the fun of learning to the classroom. I want the students to want to learn and that is what I am going to bring to the table.
Children's church is where a year of my experience comes from. I would guide a group of children during the service and would spend individual time with those who wanted to brush up on their reading and writing. I enjoyed every minute of this experience and can say I made an impact in those children's lives.

Education has always been one of my greatest facinations. I achieved a BA in English grammars, a MLA in creative writing, and fifteen credits towards a PhD in literature and literary criticism. I discovered the writing center at my undergraduate university and became a tutor immediately. I found that I was in a position to learn just as much at the students I tutored. Over the past twelve years, I have continued that facination with learning in voluntary tutoring sessions.
I believe in the program of teaching across the curriculum. As a teacher to be, I believe that students are much more willing to participate in writing goood papers when it is in a subject that has meaning for them. I prefer special needs students because I enjoy finding what works for a learner and working around their preferences - and special needs children will often tell you, directly or not, their learning style. However, this is not to say it is difficult for me to teach children without special needs. I believe in explaining things in numerous ways to help a student understand, and this creative thinking to find a new way to say something is not only a skill of mine, but something I enjoy.
