Environmental Journalist to help with reading and writing

I am an environmental reporter based in New York. My articles have appeared in New Scientist, Scientific American, Psychology Today, Popular Science, OnEarth Magazine and Smart Planet. I was also a copy editor with a large publishing house for two years where I used my spelling and grammar skills to fact check and proof read manuscripts. Over 13 years of working with students that were not scholars initially. After learning skills to improve their educational/learning experience, they became more scholarly, and enjoyed learning. This is key. They just need to change their perspective, and learn how to make "learning" enjoyable, like it was in kindergarden.
My teaching style is interactive, many of my former students would characterize it as "coaching". I always empower the student to find their way and to have them become "pros" in the learning process.
