A Little Bit About Me...

As a current undergraduate chemistry and honors student at Arcadia University, I was recommended to become a tutor from several of my teachers my first year in college. I became a certified CRLA tutor and started tutoring my sophomore year of college; I've been tutoring ever since. I tutor chemistry, biology, math (beginner algebra, statistics, calculus I and II), and calculus based physics.
I love working with students and teaching them something new. The best feeling is when someone understands a concept that they didn't before; when something "clicks" for a student, I feel as if my job as a tutor was done. I'm a very determined, persistent, caring, and patient person; all of these characteristics have helped me become a great tutor.

A Little Bit About Me...

I think that my teaching style works well for three main reasons. The first of which is my student-centered approach to education. I treat each student as an individual, identifying their strengths and weaknesses and I then use that information to help them achieve their goals. Second, I am passionate about German and language learning. I believe what I’m teaching students are skills that can be applied in many different situations for a lifetime and that makes me more effective. Third, I love getting students to that moment when “things just click” and they are successfully able to form their thoughts in the target language, for instance. I believe that the best way to learn is to set goals which may seem challenging at first, but are within reach of a student’s abilities. Learning should be a process of discovery and may require looking at a subject from many different angles. I am good at understanding a child’s personality and finding out how he or she learns best. If understanding abstract concepts proves difficult at first, I will look for practical applications which make the process clearer. If not having proper study skills is causing a lack of understanding, I will sit down with a student and set out a clear system of weekly objectives.
