A Little Bit About Me...

While I was in high school, I took honors courses and graduated with a 4.0 GPA. I tutored an 8th grade-9th grade boy in TCAPS preparation and helped him complete homework in Math (pre-algebra, algebra, and pre-geometry), Science (biology), and English. I tutored him for two years. After I graduated high school I was accepted to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where I am currently in the spring semester of my sophomore year. I will be returning to Johnson City this summer and am available to tutor. I babysit two young boys currently, one of whom is 5 and I help him with kindergarten homework,such as learning words and reading. I am capable of helping with all ages. I can tutor most any subject through high school with the exception of advanced chemistry and calculus, and would need to be refreshed on pre-cal and algebra ll before being comfortable helping students with it. A Little Bit About Me...

With my numerous experiences in education, I think I could be a great asset in helping students become more knowledgeable. I have worked as a Tutor, Assistant Teacher, and did a short placement as an Interim Teacher. I can easily adjust to changing environments that will best suit the student’s potential. I was a Tutor in an after school program, and was an Assistant Teacher in a Special Education classroom. I finished an Interim Teaching placement in a middle school A.P. English classroom.
I have a somewhat relaxed teaching style that does not compromise the distinction or respect between student and teacher. This teaching style results in a classroom atmosphere where students feel comfortable responding to my questions and asking for further clarification about complex topics. During my four years at East TN State University (ETSU), I tutored college students in General and Organic Chemistry, and multiple Psychology courses. I also taught for Kaplan Test Prep in small classes and prepared high school students for the SAT and ACT. I graduated in 2004 with a BS in Psychology. I then went to South College to get my teaching certificate. I student taught for 16 weeks under two wonderful mentoring teachers, and started subbing in January 2005. In August 2005 I received a full-time teaching position, and that is my current career.
