I have over 21 years of experience in law enforcement. In each of those years I was required to instruct others in numerous subjects. Those years gave me a sense of discipline and motivation which I applied to my students learning experiences. During my lifetime, I have experienced a wide variety of professional exposures, and I did my best to master each one. I love teaching all grades and levels. The most important aspect of teaching is to know your student. Each individual learns in different ways, some are tactile learners, some are visual, and some are auditory learners. Incorporating all aspects into my teaching style assists the retention of the material. It also has to be relatable to the student, so we have to use relevant examples that they understand. All children can learn any subject if you can spark their interest. There is no better feeling than seeing the light turn on and the sense of accomplishment in a child's eyes.

A Little Bit About Me...

For me, there's nothing better than seeing that light of understanding and excitement come over someone's face when they solve a problem (like math) or suddenly comprehend a subject they were having trouble with (like how to write a paper). And it doesn't matter what the age is; anyone can learn. I'm very patient, but I don't take nonsense from anyone either. They have to be as serious about learning as I am about teaching.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have served over 10 years in private Christian education as a principal, business and operations manager, and teacher for both middle and high school. In addition, I have taught adults in a variety of organizations over the last 20 years. I am also a professional magician and have instructed adults and children in this fabulous art form.
I believe in trying to incorporate each learning style into my teaching plan. This means that I use lecture, reading assignments, and hands-on learning to accomplish this. My main focus is to make learning matter. I have often been heard using the phrase..."So What?" I ask that question because I firmly believe that effective learning not only teaches the what...but also the why. I want students to be able to apply their learning. Having a degree in Philosophy & Religion has many advantages in teaching. I have found to better understand a subject it is best to go and study many different resources for that subject, a macro-view. However the complicated subject is, a person who knows that subject will be able to present it in a simple concise manner. With this approach I am able to study and present a variety of subjects in a concise but exciting manner. The full grasps of studying P&R encompasses many sub fields of study : i.e. history, psychology, sociology, pretty much all the liberal arts.
My teaching style would best be described as conversational at best, drawing out of the student, their knowledge or lack of knowledge. I have taught my two honors student sons that I add to their body of knowledge and they are to coalesce the information to their understanding.
