A Little Bit About Me...

I currently have five years of teaching experience. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BS degree from the University of South Florida in the fall of 2005. When teaching first grade, I was responsible for educating children ages 6-8 in all of the fundamental areas. I managed to create a loving, encouraging and educationally exciting learning environment for each and every one of my students on a daily basis. I was also responsible for maintaining student portfolios to monitor their academic growth, conferencing with parents weekly via student agendas, parent teacher meetings and through conference phone calls.

I have found a great place in teaching, especially tutoring, due to my desire to help other people. I enjoy walking students through new information and giving them a firm understanding of the concepts and facts. I believe that there is nothing outside of a students grasp. I present the information straight forward, then use analogies and metaphors to relate the information to the students on a different level, giving them a more solid comprehension of the material. Seeing the student not only succeed, but retain the information and a confidence over the knowledge is the most rewarding experience.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate from western Carolina University, I earned my BS in Criminal Justice in three years and am close to gaining my MS in Human Services. I have been working in the human service field as a case manager/community support worker. Although it is not thought of as a teaching job, I have had the pleasure of teaching children and adults basic skills, academic skills and assisting with homework. The homework assistance ranged from 3rd grade to highschool. I was able to assist one of my students with improving his reading score in a semester. I would like to think that my education and experience with research, reports and studies could verify my qualifications.
