A Little Bit About Me...

As a student of life I believe that the best thing we can do for our children is to teach them how to learn. With that particular tool in their toolbox, there is no limit to what they can accomplish. In school it led me to become valedictorian of my high school class and Phi Beta Kappa in college, and it has allowed my learning to continue throughout my adult life. If we want our children to reach their true potential, they need to learn how to learn.
I have a BS in Chemistry, an MFS in Forensic Chemistry and a strong aptitude in math and computers. Early on in my career I spent 1 1/2 years as a substitute teacher in the areas of math and science, including several months as a long-term substitute in chemistry. I really enjoy tutoring students one on one better than teaching in the classroom, because of the one on one contact, because I have found it helps take the pressure off the stuent to facilitate learning. Also, by taking a short time to learn myself about the person's background, it helps me to better understand how to best remove any obstacles that may be standing in the way. I am very patient, easy going, and I always try to empathize with my students when possible.
I first began tutoring under the direction of Nancy Donohue-Berthiaume at Quinsigamond College. I turored in Introductory Accounting, basic and college level mathematics.
