I have a masters degree in Enviornmental Biology and a BA in pre-med sciences. I also have an AA degree in Dietetics. My other hat is a long career in writing, editing, and publishing. So, I am a grammarian and have taught English composition. I have been a substitute teacher for more than eight years in elementary, middle, and high school. During this time, I also have done private tutoring through the University of Nevada, usually one-on-one. However, with the after school programs, I have been group tutoring. The skills you use to teach yourself the material can be directly applied to someone else, especially when you find something does not click at first. I have a number of mnemonics for helping my tutees retain the material they've spent time learning. In college I don't tutor professionally because of time constraints, but I help other students understand problems they may be having difficulty with. I've also had my own SAT tutor and seen different programs and their styles, and I've chosen the one that I find the most effective.
