Bilingual Certified Tutor

I have been tutoring for the same college for 14 years. I enjoy helping people do well in their classes. I am a people person and will always listen first to what the tutee has to say so that we can better address their area of trouble. I'm also very patient. I have been tutoring math through College Algebra although I have taken classes beyond that. I can also tutor the chemistry class for nurses (Introduction to Chemistry), and Elementary Spanish. **As far as geometry tutoring, I CAN NOT do proofs, but everything else is welcomed. I also do ASVAB tutoring for the MATH section only.
I tutor in a linear step-by-step fashion and believe that comprehension is the key to retention.

My comments on tutoring Algebra II : You need to know your basic if you are tutoring calculus

Have a PhD in organic chemistry. Have been teaching assistants in almost undergraduate level chemistry classes (general chemistry, organic chemistry, and analytical chemistry) during graduate school. Have more than 13 years tutoring experience. Paid my undergraduate college education through tutoring and scholarships. My strongest subjects are chemistry and mathematics.
I would like to explain a global picture of a class material, what to expect from learning the class. All of this is not to scare students, but to mentally prepare them with the challenge ahead. I like to give my student quizzes after the tutoring, just to make sure they understand. This is a feedback process, so I could adjust my tutoring style accordingly.

I am extremely patient when I tutor, due to my 2 siblings and various other friends and students I have helped in the past, and I have accumulated well over 400 combined hours of tutoring time since 2010. I am a senior undergraduate student enrolled at Georgia Tech. My major is nuclear and radiological engineering, but i have experience in the fields of mechanical and civil engineering. I am most experienced in the subjects of mathematics, radiation physics, and electromagnetics including: algebra (I and II), trigonometry, differential equations, calculus 1 and 3, reactor physics, radiation protection/particle physics, thermodynamics, classical mechanics. I also have basic college level experience in the fields of chemistry and biology.
I encourage students to question problem solving methods in order to understand the fundamentals. After an explanation of the material I often follow up with several example problems to help students test their mastery of the subject. I do not emphasize memorizing equations, because students do not learn about the physical phenomena by memorization. ... read more

I am currently a senior at Santiago High School. I have passed Physics, Chemistry and Algebra 1 with an A, I also passed Algebra 2 with a B. I have helped a number of kids pass their math and science class through my high school career, it just comes natural. I am currently serving my second term as a Vice President for my school's Future Business Leaders of America, where i have learned an taught many kids how to present themselves in the business world.
My Teaching style is geared toward the student I am teaching. I believe tutors should adapt to how the student learns and build off that.
