I am generously patient and prefer to teach from the ground up, disallowing missed information or misunderstanding. I have been working with children since I graduated from high school. I was a teachers assistant for the hearing impaired for 4 years and did some tutoring on the side for both deaf and hearing children. I attended college and received my bachelors degree in Psychology and then got a job as a teacher on an emergency credential and realized I loved teaching. When I graduated from college, I taught bilingual elementary kindergarten for 2 years on an emergency credential. I moved to Missouri in 1995 and since 1997 I have been a daycare director till recently. I enjoy seeing the pride and joy in each child when they learn something new. Earned degree 1966-Have traveled multiple times in Europe where I have successfully used the French language in French speaking and non-French speaking areas. Have tutored for two years through two different services. I very much enjoy helping others to learn another language, and have fun with it. I am also qualified to tutor basic math and reading. I prefer a relaxed relaltionship with students regardless of their age. I do not try to force anything, rather comfortably explain things on a level that can be understood by the student. I try to have fun with the subject, and make it interesting on the student's level of understanding/experience. I realize some students may not be comfortable in a remedial situation, and try to encourage participation in a non-threatening manner.

As soon as it was a possibility, I integrated more advanced math courses into my schoolwork. I recently completed my BS in Mathematical Sciences at Westminster College. Since 7th grade, friends ordinarily looked to me for assistance with homework in the math subjects in which they struggled and I often excelled. In addition to helping my fellow students, I completed the high school A+ program, requiring 50 hours of unpaid tutoring. I reached this goal spending one year tutoring a 2nd grade class in their general studies and the other year with a 4th grade class. Now that I have graduated college and no longer have to focus as much on my own studies, I am ready to fully devote myself to the academics of others.
