I am very easy to communicate with and I am very outgoing. I firmly believe that anyone can make music if they understand that it requires some practice and some desire to learn. I love seeing a child's face light up when they learn how to play a piece of music or make a sound on an instrument; it is a phenomenal feeling. I felt that I was cheated out of my music education so I try to make it my goal to make sure I do not do the same to other young people.
Upon earning my International Baccalaureate diploma in high school, I immediately decided teaching music was what I wanted to do. I enjoy teaching very much. I think a strength trying to use a student's active content or prior knowledge to connect to material. My attempts are always to make the student feel empowered by the education process. If you can connect to way what they are into, either cartoons, hip-hop, popular culture, with conservative humor, then sometimes you can gain their understanding much quicker. In math I try to use a very simple, step by step process and continue until they "Get it!"

I have a thourough knowledge of music and can teach reading, theory, basic improvisation, and technique on virtually band instruments. I currently play the trumpet and sing in church and I love wrking with students at all levels. I have a master's degree in school counseling and can help students apply for scholarships and grants and help them find a school that is suitable to their individual needs and career interests. I can also do career testing and planning to help students determine what their goals and aspirations are and a path to follow to meet these goals.
