College students are difficult to work with because they think they know it all. This was a blessing in disguise because it taught me not only to learn different ways to tutor a student, but also to figure out through body language and little signals as to whether or not they were actually comprehending the information. Teaching is not just giving information and hoping they retain it. My teaching style consists of teaching, asking questions to ensure they know or understand the material, and exercising hands-on work and examples to ensure the student can apply what they have learned.

I have always valued the importance of a quality education and have encouraged friends with no college ambition to start working on their degrees. I am not, however, an elitist. I think every endeavor is a learning experience, but there are basic skills that are necessary to be successful, such as grammar, spelling, and professionalism.
