In May 2012, I received my bachelors degree in English with a Literature Emphasis and a minor in Writing. I graduated with a 3.6 g.p.a. (Cum Laude Honors.) Throughout college, I took various education courses that focused on educational philosophy and physiology, elementary and secondary concentrations, and students with disabilities. Certified Teacher Looking To Help Others As A Tutor

I have a wide variety of educational experience and have recently crossed over into the realm of education as a Special Education/At-Risk teacher with the Edgerton School District. My current position has me utilizing differentiated instruction and modification techniques with nearly 50 students throughout the day which will enhance my ability to tutor others who need help. I love teaching in a hands on style in which the student not only has an algorithm of how to solve a specific problem, but has a thorough understanding of the concepts behind the algorithm. I enjoy having analogies or hands-on activities to demonstrate the concepts. Free and unconstrained autobiographical writing is one of the best ways to coax a student insecure about his or her writing skills into putting into words intense experiences from their own life. I tell my students to just tell me in their own words what they are trying to say. When they speak aloud, the words flow, and then I say, "There is your opening sentence right there. Quick! Write it down." At other times, I ask them to pretend that they are really someone else, an actor in a television show, for example, and I have them imagine that the character, not they themselves, are speaking. This releases the student to let go of inhibitions and let the film roll "for the character" and then they stop focusing on themselves.
