A Little Bit About Me...

I like to get to know each individual and find out how they learn. From there I can figure out what will work for them and what won't.
I have tutored individuals in grades 1-12 in various subject areas. I have been encouraged to pursue English, Writing, and Journalism as professions because of my talent in each area. I have tested at least 4 grade levels above my grade level since I began taking standardized tests. I have the ability to disect subjects in a way that makes learning fun and understandable.

Throughout my tutoring experience, I noticed oftentimes, students wouldn’t be able completely grasp the concepts the first time when I explained to them. To resolve this problem, I have learned that it is helpful to explain the process of solving the same problem from a different perspective or using a different method. Also, sometimes after I explain a problem to the student, to make sure that the student really understands the concept, I ask the student to explain the same problem back to me or to another student who is also confused about the same problem. As a tutor, I am patient, strict, considerate and I strive to make a difference in all of my students' lives.

I just graduated from Indiana University a semester early. I have a B.S. in chemistry with a math minor. During my college career I worked in a chemistry lab and this helped me learn and understand all aspects of chemistry and I trained 2 undergrads. I was also taught chemistry at after school programs and tutored students. I started tutoring math to people in high school but through college I tutored chemistry. I love them both. I have also worked as a camp counselor 3 years. I worked with children ages 4-13. I absolutely love working with children up through high school level.
Since I have worked with many different children and people I know that everyone is different.
