A Little Bit About Me...

I obtained Secondary Teacher Certification in Social Sciences. I taught high school and middle school Spanish for two and half years at public schools, and completed my student teaching at an alternative school for juvenile criminals. I was an at home teacher for my school district when children were out for extended periods due to illness. I have completed additional continuing education in working with gifted and special needs children. I enjoy sharing my passion for learning with others and love to see the “light” come on when a student finally understands a concept.
I believe making the information relevant to the student is important. I like to use humor and real-life examples to keep students engaged. I believe that it is important to know how the child learns to be able to present the material to them in the best manner for them which is what I would base my style on.

I have recently completed student teaching and have earned my teaching certificate as an art specialist. I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of students at different levels with varying abilities. I have had internships at the high school and elementary levels, with time spent both in the art classroom as well as the special education classroom. I just graduated from Indiana University a semester early. I have a B.S. in chemistry with a math minor. During my college career I worked in a chemistry lab and this helped me learn and understand all aspects of chemistry and I trained 2 undergrads. I was also taught chemistry at after school programs and tutored students. I started tutoring math to people in high school but through college I tutored chemistry. I love them both.
