A Little Bit About Me...

I have been a foreign language teacher and tutor for 25 years (including English, reading and writing). I have taught all levels, all ages, mostly French (my mother tongue), German (my second mother tongue) Hebrew and English. I taught in private schools - 3rd to 12th grades - and in the public sector too: middle and high schools. I took teen-agers abroad, to Europe, (I was their only chaperonne) to supplement what we learned in class. I also tutor adults and children, mostly in languages. I strive to make learning the most fun and relevant as possible.
I am a fervent believer of Gardner's mutiple intelligences, because I know that each person has a unique learning style, and unique interests. Learning happens when students are not only engaged by the teacher and the material presented, but also sees the relevance of the subject matter in their own lives. Learning occurs in classrooms where students are comfortable making mistakes. Learning results when expectations are high, the praise forthcoming, and the criticism gentle. I consider teaching a form of parenting. It is my job to provide order, structure, and security.
