During my collegiate years, I learned that experience was just as important as obtaining my degree. Therefore, I worked during my college years in a school offering mentoring for young children. For the last two years, I have worked for a young adult mentoring program called Project Respect. I work as a classroom facilitator. My BA in Communications offers me experience in writing research papers, essays, preparing and delivering speeches, and developing creative case studies. Currently, I am working on my Masters in Science, which enables me to teach Science and Math classes, as well.

A Little Bit About Me...

I would say that it is a little more toward laid back. Being over 6" tall, stocky, pushing hard, being an ogre, hard-nosed, that isn't going to work for me. People have a tendency to be a bit intimidated and fearful because of my size. I will use it to my advantage if it is necessary, or becomes necessary, but I've found being a little more quiet, reserved and coaxing the student to initiate the discussion is a little better. Ask leading questions, adjust and proceed, based on their response.
I have received degrees in Int'l Business from Lourdes College, as well an Associates Degree in Accounting from Owens Community College. While with the Ohio Air National Guard, participated in the Mentoring program with Township Elementary, Swanton Local Schools for five(5)-years. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe teaching is the key to each child's future. When presented with the chance to succeed, I believe each child will. I believe in presenting each child with a verbal and visual explanation of each objective. I then believe that each child needs the chance to complete a task with encouragement and success before independent work. Assessment should only be taken AFTER a child has experienced numerous chances for understanding, practice, and mastery. Flexibility is another thing that many students are not allowed in class, and I believe is very important to success. This is permitted in my classes on an as-needed basis. Each child achieves mastery at a different rate, and regardless of the rate, each child deserves the chance to reach that proficiency.
